The Citizen Care Community Services Division provides community-based, residential
services to people with developmental disabilities. The
primary mission of the Community Services Division is to assure people are provided with
the services and supports needed to realize their dreams.
This is supplemented by helping people to become valued members of
their communities, facilitating a normal lifestyle for each person, and providing
the opportunities and environment that encourages maximum independence.
Skills are developed through a wide range of
formal services including cooking, shopping, hygiene, laundry, safety, rights and
health. Services are augmented through the
use of generic community resources such as religion, recreation, health and public
transportation services. Additionally, people
are enrolled in numerous adult education classes and special interest clubs.
Finally, the clinical interventions, such as group
and individual counseling, are provided to help people deal with problems that may inhibit
personal growth.
